Heartland Services (Heartlands) is a government-funded service that provides access to government and community services for rural communities. Our Heartlands service, located at 71-73 Rora Street (Te Kūiti), is one of 40 Heartlands centres across Aotearoa.
We provide a wide range of services to the community, most of which are free of charge. This includes, for example, access to computer devices and free Wi-Fi, assistance with online services, connection to government and non-government services, and printing and scanning. The hub includes meeting room and video conferencing facilities.

How We Can Help You
Connect To Government Services
Support to connect with any Government agencies, such as Inland Revenue and Ministry of Social Development.
Email and phone
Use our computers to access your email, or we can help you with sending emails. Phone available for public use for calls within Aotearoa.
Help completing forms
We can help you complete forms for a variety of purposes, including applications for government support or registration forms for services.
Connect To Community Services
Information about what services are available in your community and help to access these.
Meeting Room
Available for community purposes and meetings with Government agencies. A fee applies for business or private use. Contact us for details.
Assistance with online services
Help with using a wide range of online services, from internet banking and online shopping, to Government forms and online courses.
Computer and Wi-Fi access
Several computers are available for public use free of charge, or you can bring your own device. Free Wi-Fi.
Video-conferencing facilities
Large video-conferencing tv and speaker system, suitable for individual and group meetings.
Referrals to support services
Need support but unsure of what is available? Come and talk to us and we will help connect you to support services.
Printing & Scanning
Some printing is offered free of charge, particularly if it relates to Government or community services. Other printing involves a fee. Scanning is free of charge.
Working space
In town and need a space to do some work or study? Feel free to come in and use our main site. No charges apply for occasional use.
Promotion of community initiatives
Do you have a community service that you would like to promote? We can develop promotional material and share it on our digital billboard and Facebook page.

Available by Appointment
Most of the services Heartlands offers are available on a drop-in basis. However, if you would like to ensure a staff member is available, you can book a dedicated appointment.

NAIT Support 1 hour
Free, confidential, one-on-one support to navigate the National Animal Identification and Tracing (NAIT) system. This can cover:
• Registering your animals
• Creating movements
• Registering non-NAIT animals
• System user guides

CV Support 30 minutes
Free session to help you create or update your CV.
We will also print and supply files in a digital format, free of charge. -
Device Advice 30 minutes
Free session if you need help with your digital device.
Note, it is best to book a session if your query is quite technical. Assistance with simple issues can usually be provided on a drop-in basis. -
Online Banking Support 30 minutes
Free session to help you build confidence to navigate online banking platforms.

Other Services
The Heartlands Hub has a meeting room with video-conferencing facilities available. We call this our ‘hui hub’. This is mainly for use for community purposes such as:
- Meetings for members of the public with government agencies.
- Service providers to offer drop-in clinics or appointments.
- Workshops that are open to the public.
- Business mentoring sessions.
- Space for a community member to conduct an online job interview.
- Community group meetings.
When used for community services such as those listed above, there is no charge. Contact us to enquire about booking the room.
Note that bookings are usually only available between operational hours of 9am to 5pm and priority is given to community bookings as opposed to private organisation bookings. A hireage fee is charged for private bookings such as company meetings that are not open to the public.
Depending on the seating arrangements, the room is suitable for meetings of up to 10-12 people (around a table) or 20 people (without tables).

Heartland Services can help connect you to Government agencies and providers of social services. If you are having difficulty getting in contact with an agency, you are welcome to drop-in, phone, or email us for help.
In addition to general support to access services, we have special arrangements with Inland Revenue and the Ministry of Social Development (MSD).
Avoid waiting in a phone queue. We offer free support for general tax enquiries. If we can’t help you, we will refer you to a dedicated Inland Revenue representative.
We can arrange help for queries relating to matters such as:
- Income tax
- GST
- Child support
- Working for Families and Best Start
- KiwiSaver
- Student loans
- Paid parental leave
- myIR support
- General information or forms
- Kaitakawaenga Māori
- Requesting a business advisory visit
This is a free service for senior-related queries (for people aged 65 years and older) from the Te Kūiti MSD service centre. Queries may relate to:
- New Zealand Superannuation and Veteran’s Pension
- SuperGold Card
- Help with housing costs
- Help with health costs
- Community Services Card
- Disability Allowance
- Winter Energy Payment
- Emergency costs
- Residential Care Subsidy
Drop in and see us or contact us if you would like us to send a referral for either of these services.
To support small businesses that do not have a physical premises, our hui hub at 73 Rora Street can be booked as a pop-up shop, free of charge, for one day (from 10am to 4pm). We can help promote your pop-up shop via Facebook posts and our digital billboard.
There are some conditions of use regarding the room. For example, you must have any required permits to operate your business and be legally permitted to sell the items you intend to sell. You must also have public liability insurance cover.
